Detectives believe a man reported missing more than four months ago may have been murdered.
Martin Conway, 39, was last seen overnight between Sunday 1 February into Monday 2 February in Chester city centre.
Cheshire Police said although no body had been found an investigation into his disappearance revealed Conway may have “come to harm” – sparking a murder inquiry.
Two men and two women from the Cheshire area have been arrested on suspicion of murder, the force said.
Conway, from Ellesmere Port, was wearing a black coat with a fur lined hood, grey jogging bottoms or black leggings and white trainers when he was last seen.
He is described as 5ft 7in tall, of a slim build, with light brown hair and blue eyes.
