The heat the UK has been experiencing has eased today although an amber warning has been extended into tomorrow morning for the east and south east of England. Thunderstorms also led to severe disruption at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
The heat dome which sat over France, Spain and Italy has moved eastwards with the Netherlands among the latest nations bracing for temperatures in excess of 40 Celsius as red alerts for extreme heat expanded into Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
