Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala once again found a meaningful way to honor the Philippines after sporting a visor embroidered with the Filipino phrase, “Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto,” during her historic campaign in the prestigious Wimbledon Championships in London.

On her Instagram post, the 21-year-old Eala, who became the first-ever Filipino to reach the third round of the annual competition after striking back at Australian Maya Joint, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, shared some snaps of her new visor.

“Every dream begins as a seed,” the text written on Eala’s post. “Once it grows, it cannot be stopped. Kapag lumago, hindi na hihinto.”

This wasn’t the first time Eala has paid tribute to her roots through her gears. She previously sported a Sampaguita-inspired hair tie – also designed by Nike – as another subtle yet meaningful nod to the Philippines and its rich culture.

Netizens were also delighted, apart from Eala’s way of celebrating her country, by her growth through the years.

“Such a beautiful reminder. Seeing your growth and journey inspires so many of us. Lalago at hindi hihinto!,” one netizen wrote.

“Yes, you still have a long way to go, but you’ve already come incredibly far!” another netizen added.

The charming Filipina lefty, currently No. 32 in the world rankings, is set for a thrilling showdown against No. 3 Iga Swiatek of Poland in Wimbledon’s Round of 32 this Saturday, July 4.
