India has named its next ambassador to North Korea, replacing its previous envoy just over a year after New Delhi filled a nearly four-year vacancy at its Pyongyang mission.
Sanjeev Jain, who currently serves as India’s ambassador to Cabo Verde, was appointed to represent New Delhi in Pyongyang and is “expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a news release Monday.
No additional details were provided by the ministry.
He will succeed Aliawati Longkumer, who was appointed in June 2025 after a nearly four-year vacancy amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
