The ECHO understands the store remains open

A Volvo careered through a car park barrier, blocking the entrance into the Aldi off Rice Lane. The ECHO was sent photos of the car blocking the road at the entrance to the supermarket shortly after 2pm today, Saturday.
A man who arrived at the scene in Walton just minutes after the incident said: “The whole road into the supermarket is closed at the moment.”
The eyewitness, who sent in the pictures, said the car had “come from inside” the car park “as if heading back out”. He said “loads of people [were] gathered around taking pictures” and the store staff were trying to work out what to do next.
The ECHO has approached Aldi for comment.
The pictures showed the car had ploughed through a wooden barrier and taken with it vegetation and a wooden pole. A street light had also been damaged and was precariously bent out of shape.
At the time the images were taken the police were not yet at the scene. It is not known when the car park will be accessible again for drivers.
