Police have issued a warning to Bangor residents following a rise in burglaries. Officers have issued advice to deter thieves.
A North Wales Police Gwynedd North statement said: “We’re urging residents to take steps to protect their homes following an increase in the number of burglaries being reported in the Bangor area.
“Burglars are often opportunistic thieves who seek out any opening that they can take advantage of, specifically doors and windows that are left open or unlocked.”
Police have offered some steps to prevent home from being targeted:
• Lock doors and windows
• Hide car keys from line of sight
• Use outdoor lighting or motion sensors to remove dark hiding spots.
• Know your neighbours, trusting neighbours can keep an eye on your property
• Make your home look occupied
• Consider tracking devices for high value items
Officers have also urged people to report any suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood to North Wales Police.
