Viking opens sales for India river voyages from 2027

Viking has opened sales for India river voyages in 2027, 2028 and 2029.

Two new-build ships, Viking Ganges and Viking Brahmaputra, will offer a 15-day Wonders of India itinerary which combines an eight-day river cruise and a guided landed extension as a round-trip from Delhi.

The itinerary has 13 tours included in the price and hotel stays in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to bookend the sailing.

Additional pre and post-land extensions are available such as two nights in Delhi, three nights fully guided in Dubai, four nights fully guided in Kathmandu or five nights fully guided in Cochi and Mumbai.

Both vessels will offer east-bound and west-bound voyages between Guwahait and Nimati Ghat in the northeastern state of Assam.

The Viking Ganges will launch in late 2027, followed by Viking Brahmaputra in 2028.

The sister ships are designed to navigate the Brahmaputra River and each have capacity for 80 passengers in 40 cabins.

Chairman and chief executive Torstein Hagen said: “Since announcing our new river voyages in India, we have seen strong interest from guests eager to explore this remarkable region.

“By adding a second ship on the Brahmaputra River in 2028 and opening 2029 departure dates now, we look forward to inviting even more curious travellers to explore India in Viking comfort in the years to come.”
