Colombo: Sri Lanka head coach Gary Kirsten was a keen observer at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground on Sunday as India continued their meticulous preparations for the upcoming two-Test series. The former India coach was seen getting a close, professional look at the visiting side during their final warm-up fixture against the Sri Lanka Cricket XI.
Kirsten, a name synonymous with India’s historic 2011 ODI World Cup triumph, was spotted surveying the proceedings, occasionally exchanging a few words with India fast bowler Gurnoor Brar near the boundary ropes before returning his focused attention to the tourists’ strategies and individual performances.
India Faces 207-Run Chase in Final Warm-up Assessment
The warm-up encounter has now entered its conclusive phase, with the Sri Lanka Cricket XI declaring their second innings at 200/6, setting India a target of 207 runs. Earlier in the match, India had declared their first innings at 357/6, responding to the Sri Lanka Cricket XI’s initial declaration of 363/8. The standout performance for India came from Devdutt Padikkal, whose unbeaten 142 underscored his potential, while Ravindra Jadeja and Manav Suthar also registered valuable time at the crease, honing their skills ahead of the competitive series.

Sai Sudharsan, initially included in India’s Test squad, has unfortunately been ruled out due to a toe injury.
