Sunny Deol Returns to Action: Filming for ‘Antony’ Kicks Off in Mumbai

Bollywood powerhouse Sunny Deol has officially returned to the sets. After wrapping up his commitments for the Partition-themed drama Batwara 1947, the veteran actor has shifted his focus to his upcoming cop thriller, Antony.

According to reports, the production team began the latest schedule at Mumbai’s Film City on August 26, with an intense focus on high-octane action. Directed by Balaji Ganesh, the film features Deol in the role of a determined police officer tasked with dismantling a dangerous crime syndicate. To ensure the authenticity and intensity of the sequences, the production has brought on acclaimed action director Ravi Verma. Insiders reveal that the current filming block is dominated by elaborate car chase sequences that underscore the gritty nature of the thriller.

Deol is expected to wrap up his portions for Antony by October, as the film enters its final, action-heavy phase of production.

Transitioning to ‘Ramayana: Part 2’

Once he completes Antony, the actor is set to dive straight into one of the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana saga. Deol has been cast as Lord Hanuman in the ambitious two-part mythological epic. While his appearance in the first installment is slated to be brief, his character is expected to take center stage in the second part, featuring extensive dramatic and action-oriented sequences.

The first part of the franchise, which features Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama, is currently eyeing a Diwali 2026 release. Reports indicate that Kapoor has already commenced his preparations and filming for the second installment, with Deol expected to align his schedule accordingly once Antony concludes.

A Busy Slate Ahead

The Gadar 2 star’s professional calendar remains packed with major projects. Aside from Antony and Ramayana, fans can look forward to Jaat 2, with production tentatively slated to begin in December, pending the availability of director Gopichand Malineni.

Deol’s recent filmography highlights his versatility, ranging from the historical weight of Batwara 1947 to the high-energy entertainment promised by the upcoming action-thriller Baap, which will see him reunite with industry legends Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and Mithun Chakraborty. He is also attached to Gabru, written and directed by Shashank Udapurkar.

As the industry tracks these developments, fans are eager to see how Sunny Deol balances his diverse film slate over the coming year. Given his track record for delivering powerful performances, these upcoming projects are shaping up to be significant additions to his storied career.
