Apple Hikes Prices for TV Streaming and ‘Apple One’ Bundle

Apple has officially increased the monthly cost of its streaming platform, marking another significant shift in the competitive landscape of digital entertainment. As of Friday, the price for Apple TV+ has risen from $12.99 to $14.99 per month, with the annual subscription climbing to $119 from its previous $99 price point.

The tech giant is also adjusting the cost of its all-in-one subscription service, Apple One, which packages Apple TV+ with other popular services including iCloud storage, Apple Music, and Apple Arcade. The individual plan for the bundle has increased to $21.95, up from $19.95.

A Growing Trend in Streaming

These latest increases continue a broader industry trend. Major players—including Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Paramount+, Max, Peacock, Amazon Prime, and YouTube Premium—have all implemented subscription price hikes or adjusted their ad-free tiers over the past few years. For Apple, this marks the second consecutive year of price increases for its streaming service, which debuted at a modest $4.99 per month back in 2019.

The platform has significantly expanded its content library since its launch, offering critically acclaimed series such as “Ted Lasso,” “The Morning Show,” “Severance,” and “Silo.” In addition to scripted dramas and comedies, Apple has invested heavily in exclusive content, including the legendary Charlie Brown holiday specials and high-profile sports programming like Formula 1 racing.

Strong Financial Performance

The price adjustments follow a period of robust financial growth for the company. In its most recent earnings report—the final one to be overseen by outgoing CEO Tim Cook—Apple announced a record-breaking June quarter. The company brought in $109.4 billion in revenue, exceeding analyst expectations of $108.65 billion.

Growth was largely driven by a 22% surge in iPhone sales and record-breaking revenue for the Mac division during the spring quarter. Furthermore, Apple’s bottom line received an unexpected lift from tariff refunds, which contributed approximately 5% to the company’s profit for the period.

Beyond Apple TV+, the company also raised the price of Apple Music earlier this July, moving the monthly rate from $10.99 to $11.99.

Apple has not yet provided an official statement regarding the logic behind these specific subscription adjustments. As the streaming wars evolve, industry analysts are watching closely to see if these price hikes will affect subscriber retention or encourage consumers to consolidate their digital entertainment budgets.
