A man was arrested on suspicion of murder after Laura was found dead in the Rochdale farm fire
Tributes have been paid to a ‘kind soul’ and ‘beautiful’ mum who died in a tragic farm fire in Rochdale. The body of a woman, aged in her 30s, was found inside a stables at the farm in Milnrow following a blaze last Friday (July 3).
Firefighters were called to the blaze at Higher Tunshill Farm, off Tunshill Lane, at around 12.30pm. For a number of days after the blaze, part of the site remained cordoned off while forensic investigators remained at the scene.
The body of a woman was found at the scene. The victim has since been named publicly as Laura Foulis.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Coroners’ Court confirmed a referral has been made in relation to her death. An inquest will open at a later date.
Greater Manchester Police previously arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of murder and he has since been bailed. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Tributes have since been paid to mum Laura following her tragic death, remembering her as a ‘beautiful’ soul who also inspired people’s love of horses.
Millie Hunter penned: “My heart is truly broken, you were such a kind soul Laura. You made such an impact on me growing up and being confident in my own ability and passion for horses. The kids will always know and remember how amazing you are. Sending so much love to the family.”
In another tribute, Jamie Eckert wrote: “Devastating news! Rest in peace Laura !! Such a beautiful soul inside and out!!” as Victoria Mason said: “I am truly shattered by this news RIP Laura rest in eternal piece now watching over your babies always.”
Leah Sykes posted: “Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself, for pushing me to be better and helping me to fall in love with horses all over again! You’re one of a kind and such a kind soul that will be missed by so many!”
It’s thought the derelict stables may have been under renovation. Witnesses reported seeing large flames and black smoke billowing across the surrounding area, before a large number of emergency services arrived.
In a previous statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 12.30pm on Friday 3 July, emergency services were called to reports of a fire at Higher Tunshill Farm, Milnrow. Sadly, emergency services discovered the body of a woman inside stables at the property.
“A male in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been bailed pending further investigation. A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing.”
The force spokesperson confirmed the man remained on bail on July 7.
