A beloved lamb living at a popular Dumfries and Galloway campsite has had its leg amputated after breaking the limb in a field last month.
Workers at the Bush of Ewes noticed that newborn Valais lamb Noodle had been hurt on March 26.
Noodle then underwent surgery to fit a plate in an effort to save the lamb’s leg.
However, staff noticed that the plate had not held in place on April 11. Following “lengthy discussions” with the vet, a decision was made to amputate Noodle’s leg.
A fundraiser has been set up by the caravan park and campsite to ensure that one of its newest members can live a “normal life”.
Bush of EwesA post from the site read: “We will know in the next two weeks if he will need any support for his good leg whilst he is still growing, like keeping an eye on his weight so he does not get too heavy and thinking of going down a cart route like what they use for dogs, but modified for Noodle.
“We cannot be exact with what we are doing in the future regarding support and carts as even the vet will say this is very, very new and not been done before. So, everything now to give him a normal life will be trial and error till we get it right, so please all support us in giving Noodle his best life.
“He is now also a bottle baby, so he will be around the actual campsite a lot more once he is fully healed.”
