Murder Investigation Launched Following Death of Man and Injury of Child in Dungannon

DUNGANNON – Police in County Tyrone have launched a major murder investigation following a tragic incident in Dungannon on Saturday morning that has left one man dead and a child hospitalized with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the Lisnahull Road area of the town early Saturday following reports of an incident. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the discovery of a man’s body. A young child was also located at the scene suffering from severe injuries.

The child was immediately stabilized by paramedics and transported to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their condition has not been disclosed, but police have confirmed that their injuries are considered serious.

In connection with the incident, detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He currently remains in police custody as forensic experts and investigators process the scene.

A heavy police presence remains in the vicinity of Lisnahull Road as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy continues. Authorities have cordoned off the area to allow for a thorough examination of the site, and the public is being urged to avoid the area until further notice.

“Officers remain at the scene as our enquiries continue,” a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) spokesperson stated. “We understand the concern this incident will cause within the local community, and we are working to establish the facts.”
