Athletics: Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw qualifying action soon
The wait is almost over. Neeraj Chopra will take to the runway in about an hour in the men’s javelin throw qualifying as he begins his bid for a second CWG gold.
The two-time Olympic medallist claimed the title at the 2018 Gold Coast but was injured at Birmingham 2022 and now returns to Glasgow 2026 chasing a second CWG title.

Parul Chaudhary returns to the track in the women’s 5000m final, looking to bounce back after a disappointing outing in the 3000m steeplechase, while Tejaswin Shankar kicks off his decathlon campaign.
Vishal TK and Animesh Kujur will also be in action in the men’s 400m and 200m semi-finals respectively, with Nidhi Rani and Seema Punia contesting the women’s discus throw final.
India’s weightlifting campaign concludes today, with Birmingham 2022 bronze medallist Lovepreet Singh competing in the men’s +110kg and Martina Devi Maibam taking the platform in the women’s +86kg, as the Indian lifters look to add to their already impressive seven-medal haul in Glasgow.
Track cycling also gets underway for India, with Rojit Singh Yanglem, David Beckham Elkatohchoongo and Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam leading the challenge in the men’s team sprint.
