
DHURANDHAR 2′ BECOMES FIRST BOLLYWOOD FILM TO CROSS ₹1,000 CRORE NET IN INDIA
Aditya Dhar-directed “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge” becomes the first Bollywood film to break the 1,000 crore net barrier at the Indian box office. With the latest milestone, the Ranveer Singh-led flick also becomes the third Indian film overall, joining the likes of “Pushpa 2” and “Baahubali 2”, to enter the exclusive club, the first being from the Hindi language.
The movie hit the milestone on the 18th day of its theatrical run with a net collection of 1,013.77 crore in India, out of which the Hindi version alone recorded a 900 crore net, which is a new benchmark for any Hindi film. The film was released on March 19 on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, also gaining the benefits of consecutive holidays and Eid to make an extraordinary collection in the opening days.
The film, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun, also retained its strong run through the second and third weekends. The movie witnessed 21.55 crore collection on Day 16, and the collections rose to 25.65 crore on Day 17 and further 28.75 crore on Day 18, indicating strong holds even in its third week in cinemas.
Overseas, the movie has over USD 41.5 million in gross earnings and also broke the nine-year-old record of “Baahubali 2” to become the highest-grossing Indian film at the North American box office.
