THE “heart-breaking” death of a beloved Dingwall barbershop cat has sparked calls for a reduced speed limit on one of the town’s busy roads.
Minoş the cat (10 months), was found dead on Greenhill Street in Dingwall on April 9.
His owners at Gold Barbers on the High Street believe that he was hit by a car in a traffic accident.
They said: “This loss has been heart-breaking for us, and we truly believe it is time to take a stand against such accidents.
“Please, let’s consider reducing speed limits to 20mph to help prevent further tragedies. No one else should have to experience this kind of pain.”
In 2023, the Highland Council reduced many 30mph speed limits to 20mph, in a bid to improve road safety. Although many road in Dingwall now have a 20mph speed limit, Greenhill Street has a 30mph speed limit.
Gold Barbers, who have been operating in Dingwall for 18 months, continued: “This is the umpteenth accident — just a month ago another cat died in a road accident in the area.
“We are all very upset and feel helpless, but we kindly ask everyone to be more careful and attentive on the roads.”
