Global Ecology and Environmental Group has acquired Nicholas Pearson Associates, a Bath-based consultancy with a 40-year track record in landscape architecture, ecology, and environmental services.
The deal brings a specialist team with experience across residential, energy, infrastructure, and historic environment projects into the growing environmental consultancy group.
Simon Kale, managing director of Nicholas Pearson Associates, said: “Joining Ecology Group marks an exciting new chapter for our team. We’ve spent over 40 years building an impressive reputation through delivering schemes in sensitive environmental and planning contexts, nationally recognised landmark projects and ecologically conscious green infrastructure. What drew us to the group was the opportunity to do more of what we do best, but with greater reach and resource behind us.”
Recent projects include verified visualisations for Bath Rugby’s new stadium, landscape architecture and ecology services for a 281-home development at Roundwood in Stevenage, and ecology and landscape design for National Trust’s Saltram East — a 32-hectare country park in Plymouth.
Founder and chairman Nicholas Pearson, who established the business in 1982, will retire as part of the transition.
Kale and director Jamie Farnell will continue to lead the business.
Global Ecology and Environmental Group launched in 2025 and has been acquiring specialist consultancies to build what it says is a market-leader in ecological and environmental consultancy.
The group acquired its first business, MKA Ecology, in spring 2025 and has since added Burton Reid Associates, Earth Active, Johns Associates, Living Earth, Mine Environment Management, and Wildwood Ecology.
Chris Heyes, chief financial officer of Ecology Group, added: “This acquisition is a strong signal of where the Group is heading. Nicholas Pearson Associates’ breadth of services, the culture they have built over the last 40 years, and their specialist team — complement our existing businesses perfectly, and we’re looking forward to what we’ll be able to achieve together.”
The group now employs nearly 200 environmental professionals.
The value of the deal was not disclosed.
