A Good Morning Britain host has issued an urgent warning following a breaking news development.
Thursday’s edition, broadcast on 30 July, featured Kate Garraway and Adil Ray presenting, with Charlotte Hawkins delivering news bulletins.
During the programme, a “Breaking News” alert appeared on screen, as Charlotte provided details of a substantial wildfire in Suffolk.
Sharing the headlines as the show approached its final hour, Kate opened: “A major incident has been declared and people warned to stay away from a huge wildfire,” reports the Mirror.
“Around 90 firefighters are working to tackle the large and complex, they say, fire in Suffolk.
“It comes as half of England and Wales are now officially in drought.”
Following Adil’s coverage of additional stories, Kate announced: “We’re going to take you straight to Charlotte now with that breaking news.”
Charlotte reported: “In breaking news this morning, homes have been evacuated, and public are being told to stay away as emergency services continue to tackle a wildfire in Suffolk.
“Elsewhere the dry weather has taken a toll on water supplies, drought has been declared across half of England.”
Kate was presenting Good Morning Britain alongside Adil, who recently announced his return to the show after a break.
The actor and comedian was supported by fans as he shared on Instagram: “Some news! Yes I have not been on in a while but glad to be on a little over the coming weeks, on what remains one the most important shows on UK television, during the most important of times.
“Being one of the only (if not the only) Muslims to host a major news show in mainstream peak daytime.
“So many others have left the traditional outlets, so I am fortunate and grateful of the continued opportunity. And of course I aim to reflect us all, especially the Villa fans.
“Thank you for supporting me everyone, and I hope you will join us @gmb next Thursday.”
He said he would be appearing on the show during upcoming Thursdays through July and August.
