Grand Theft Auto VI Leaks Again, Potentially Revealing Key Gameplay Ahead of Official Deep Dive
Anticipation for Rockstar Games’ upcoming blockbuster, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), has been both fueled and potentially spoiled by a fresh wave of leaked footage appearing online. These clips, seemingly showcasing early gameplay and story elements, have surfaced just days before Rockstar’s much-hyped "extended look" is set to debut on Netflix.
The recent leaks offer tantalizing glimpses into what players can expect from the highly anticipated title, slated for a November release. While some of the footage has been swiftly removed due to copyright claims, enough has circulated to spark considerable discussion and speculation among the gaming community.
One of the now-removed clips reportedly featured a quieter, character-focused moment with Jason Duval, one of the game’s two protagonists, engaging in a basketball shooting mini-game. Another, also pulled from circulation, presented a more classic GTA-style scenario, depicting Duval assaulting an individual with a wrench and, notably, the return of the fan-favorite six-star Wanted system – a feature that promises heightened chaos and police pursuit intensity.
A third clip, which remains accessible at the time of writing, provides a more dynamic sequence. It shows Duval driving at night, engaging in hand-to-hand combat, utilizing a taser, and carjacking a truck. This particular video then transitions abruptly to what appears to be a cutscene from a different part of the game, set during the daytime, suggesting a diverse narrative and gameplay structure.
All of these newly surfaced videos bear a distinctive watermark from an entity calling themselves "CyberLeek." The persistent third clip also contains a series of curious additions, including a call to purchase a "CyberLeek cryptocurrency," a QR code, links to several "sketchy-looking" CyberLeek URLs, and a defiant statement: "NO PHYSICAL DISCS? THEN MORE LEEKS!" This appears to be a direct jab at Rockstar’s earlier decision not to release GTA VI on physical discs, opting instead for digital distribution.
This incident marks another chapter in a history of leaks surrounding GTA VI. In 2022, a massive breach saw 90 videos of pre-alpha gameplay leak online, long before the game’s official reveal over a year later. Even that official reveal wasn’t immune, with its trailer leaking prematurely, prompting Rockstar to release it a day earlier than planned. The teenager responsible for the significant 2022 leak was later sentenced to life in a secure hospital. Earlier this year, Rockstar also acknowledged a data compromise through a third-party provider, though they assured the public that the incident would have "no impact on our organization or our players."
Neither Rockstar nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have yet responded to requests for comment regarding these latest leaks.
Fans eagerly awaiting official details can still look forward to the GTA VI "extended look," which is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27th at 3 PM ET, with a YouTube stream following at 9 PM ET. The highly anticipated $79.99 title is set to launch on November 19th. Notably, many other major game releases have strategically avoided this crowded window, opting to launch earlier in the year to steer clear of the GTA VI phenomenon.
