Ramil Madriaga, the alleged former bagman of Vice President Sara Duterte, claimed that the P125 million in confidential funds released in December 2022 was not utilized in 11 days but was disposed of in under 24 hours.
Madriaga disclosed this information during his appearance in the impeachment hearing of the House Committee on Justice.
“A few years later, I read from several media reports that the One Hundred Twenty-Five Million Pesos (PhP125,000,000.00) OVP confidential funds in 2022 were reportedly utilized in just eleven (11) days. This is wrong because I personally disposed of the money in less than twenty-four (24) hours,” Madriaga said.
Madriaga narrated that in December 2022, bags of cash, each allegedly containing between P30 million and P35 million, were taken from the Department of Education Central Office in Pasig City and delivered to various destinations, including Laguna and Quezon City.
He claimed that the deliveries were carried out allegedly under direct instructions from Duterte and involved members of the Vice-Presidential Security and Protection Group, including Col. Dennis Nolasco and Col. Raymund Dante Lachica.
According to his account, the cash was packed in bundles of P1,000 bills, arranged in stacks of P1 million each and sealed in transparent plastic, then transported using multiple vehicles to designated drop-off points.
In the hearing of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability in the previous Congress, it was disclosed that the P125 million confidential funds were utilized in 11 days based on the liquidation report submitted by the Office of the Vice President to the Commission on Audit.—Politiko.com.ph
