- DAVV Exam Chaos: Hindi Translation Order; Journalism Students Protest Indore

During the Master of Journalism (MJ) Media Research examination at Devi Ahilya University in Indore on Monday, Hindi-medium students were allegedly provided question papers only in English.
The issue led to confusion and protests at examination centres, with students immediately raising objections to the university authorities.
Chaos at examination centers, officials arranged hindi translation
The university had initially scheduled the MJ 1-year course examination from June 2, but later made changes to the timetable. The MJ examination started from June 9.
On Monday, the 4th paper of Media Research was held in the session from 2 PM to 5 PM in the evening.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Arts and Commerce College was made the center, where question papers were distributed to students who came to take the examination.
It contained questions only in the English language. In this 100-mark paper, students had to answer five questions. Each question had an option, but questions were not asked in Hindi medium.
Students registered their objection
Regarding this, students registered their objection with the center head. Immediately, other centers also informed the university control room about the paper being in English.
Officials gave instructions to translate the questions into Hindi and inform the students.
Students were even asked to write answers to the questions in their medium. The students’ contention was that when the curriculum is being taught through the Hindi medium and a large number of students are studying in Hindi, then the examination question paper not being available in Hindi also reflects a major lapse.
Contradiction in statements of responsible officials, investigation mentioned
Assistant Registrar Dr. Vishnu Mishra says that verbal complaints have been received from centers. No application has been received from students in this regard. However, the entire matter will be placed before the examination committee.
In this incident, major negligence is being considered regarding the printing of the question paper, as questions were not asked in Hindi.
Even during printing, the responsible persons did not pay attention to the question paper. In the entire matter, questions are now being raised about the university’s printing press, and the paper setter is being blamed for the complete mistake.
In the matter, Press Controller Dr. Ajay Tiwari says that no complaint has come forward about the question paper not being in Hindi. However, action will be taken after investigating the entire case.
University’s irregularities have surfaced before as well
This is not the first time that questions have been raised about the university’s examination system. Earlier, too, major negligence had come to light regarding the question paper of this same subject.
At that time, teachers had evaluated answer books of a 100-mark question paper on the basis of 50 marks. During that time, too, students had faced considerable trouble. After the matter escalated, the university re-evaluated the students.
