GGSIPU Official’s Son Allegedly Assaulted by Neighbours in Dwarka; Family Claims Police Inaction

NEW DELHI: A shocking incident of violence has surfaced from a residential society in Dwarka, where the son of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) Public Relations Officer, Dr. Nalini Ranjan, was allegedly attacked by his neighbours. The incident, which occurred on August 26, has sparked concerns over local police responsiveness and the safety of residents.

According to a formal statement released by the university’s Public Relations Department, the altercation began within the premises of DDA Sarvahit Apartments, situated directly opposite the GGSIPU Dwarka campus. The confrontation reportedly escalated after a pet dog owned by a neighbour was allegedly set upon the PRO’s daughter, Yashika Ranjan, while she was walking in the society.

The situation turned violent shortly thereafter. The university alleges that a local flat owner, identified as Arvind Tiwari, and his son, Ashish Tiwari, confronted and attacked Harshit Ranjan—the son of Dr. Ranjan—using a sharp object near a property dealer’s office within the residential complex.

Allegations of Procedural Lapses

Following the assault, a call was placed to the Police Control Room (PCR), and Harshit was rushed to Indira Gandhi Hospital for urgent medical care. However, the university has leveled serious allegations against the Dwarka North police station, claiming that Harshit’s medical treatment was delayed by approximately two hours because police officials failed to inform the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer of the circumstances, thereby stalling the necessary formalities.

Furthermore, the victim’s family claims they were subjected to intimidation even while undergoing medical evaluation. The university alleges that a relative of the accused threatened the PRO’s family inside the hospital, despite the presence of law enforcement personnel and medical staff.

Investigation Stalled

While the police have reportedly recorded statements from both the complainant and the accused parties, the university has expressed frustration over the lack of formal action taken thus far. As of the latest updates, an FIR has not yet been registered in connection with the attack.

The circumstances surrounding the confrontation and the subsequent allegations of police negligence remain under investigation. Authorities are expected to review evidence and testimonies to determine the next steps in the legal process.
