'Jana Nayagan' box office collections day 22: Thalapathy Vijay starrer reaches Rs 320.34 crore worldwide; film records 3.1% growth

The latest box office reports indicate a sustained, albeit modest, performance for Thalapathy Vijay‘s film, ‘Jana Nayagan,’ as it continues its theatrical run. On its 22nd day, Thursday, the movie recorded a slight uptick in its domestic collections, showcasing a degree of resilience in its fourth week. According to Sacnilk, the film garnered Rs 67 lakhs in India, representing a 3.1% increase over the Rs 65 lakhs net collected on the preceding day. This consistent draw is notable, especially considering it was screened across 1,918 shows, appealing to audiences in both Tamil and Hindi markets.

cumulatively, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has now achieved an impressive net collection of Rs 195.02 crore within India, with its gross India earnings reaching Rs 227.14 crore. The film’s initial momentum was significant, accumulating Rs 153.55 crore during its opening week alone. It maintained a strong performance into its second week, adding another Rs 31.60 crore. However, the third week saw a noticeable dip in daily earnings, a common trend for films in the later stages of their theatrical exhibition, with collections settling at Rs 9.87 crore for that period.

The global appeal of ‘Jana Nayagan’ is evident in its overseas performance, where it has amassed a substantial Rs 93.20 crore in gross collections. This international success, combined with its strong domestic figures, has propelled the Thalapathy Vijay starrer to a worldwide gross total of Rs 320.34 crore. Delving deeper into its domestic revenue streams on Day 22, the Tamil version remained the primary contributor, bringing in Rs 58 lakhs, while the Hindi version added Rs 9 lakhs. Occupancy rates on Thursday reveal a healthy engagement, particularly for the Tamil version, which registered an overall occupancy of 14.48%. Evening shows proved most popular, peaking at 17.27% occupancy. The Hindi version also saw a decent turnout, with an overall occupancy of 11.96%, and evening shows again demonstrating higher interest.

Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is a powerful political action drama. Its journey to the big screen was not without its challenges, including delays stemming from Central Board of Film Certification issues and subsequent legal hurdles, before its eventual release on July 23, 2026. Interestingly, the film also draws inspiration from the Telugu film ‘Bhagavanth Kesari,’ hinting at cross-cultural storytelling influences. It’s important to note that all box office figures and data are derived from public and industry sources and are approximate, offering a general overview of the movie’s commercial trajectory. These numbers are subject to revision as official studio data becomes available or additional international market reports are finalized.
