Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract at Man Utd that will keep him at Old Trafford for the next five years.
Kobbie Mainoo has committed his long-term future to Manchester United after signing a new five-year contract that includes a significant pay rise for the academy graduate.
Mainoo has signed a deal until the summer of 2031 that will see his salary jump to around £150,000-a-week after talks between the two parties accelerated this year.
That is a sizeable pay increase, with Mainoo last signing a contract at his boyhood club when he was 17 and only just breaking into the first team. Talks over a new deal began a couple of years ago, but were put on hold after Mainoo left the team under Ruben Amorim.

But with Mainoo back in favour since Michael Carrick was appointed in January, those discussions progressed quickly, and the MEN reported at the start of February that a resolution was likely before the end of the season.
“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family,” said Mainoo. “I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.
“From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.
“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”
Director of football Jason Wilcox added: “Kobbie is one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world.
“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system.
“We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours.”
The new contract ends a difficult chapter for Mainoo at United, with the Stockport-born youngster eyeing up a loan move to Napoli before Amorim was sacked at the start of January. He had played just 213 minutes of Premier League football in the first half of the season.
He has been restored to the team under Carrick and terms that reflect his current status at Old Trafford were signed on Wednesday afternoon and finalised by United officials on Thursday.
Mainoo has missed just one of Carrick’s 13 games in charge, playing all but 14 minutes in the other 12 fixtures, and his form recently has been excellent, with his partnership with Casemiro a key pillar of United’s resurgent form which has them on course to return to the Champions League.
