Louisville’s Shaheen Khan is an elder millennial mom of two with an eye for fashion.
Her Instagram, @lowstoluxe, and her Substack are a hotspot for tips on blending high-end fashion and budget-friendly pieces. Khan is a dentist by trade, who completed her residency at Loyola University Chicago in 2011. She worked in a dental private practice in Chicago for nearly a decade, and then returned home to her hometown of Louisville.
She began posting online in 2013 as a creative outlet that allowed her to explore new fields such as photography and web design. As time went on, her social media business grew, so much that she froze her dental license at the beginning of 2026.
Though her focus is on fashion, Khan is just as likely to share what she found on the sale rack at Anthropologie as she is to recommend a snack her kiddos are enjoying, the latest book she’s reading or a new clutch recipe.

“My account is really an extension of my true life,” Khan told The Courier Journal. “I always try to stay true to myself and my audience and only share what feels natural. If a product makes my life easier, I want to share that and hopefully make yours as well.”
This is part of a new series profiling Louisville’s vast array of content creators and influencers. From food reviewers and day-in-the-lifers to photographers and comedians, each add to the city’s culture and use social media to bring more attention to our area. Want to recommend someone? Meet Shaheen Khan

- Age: 41
- Followers: 64,500+ on Instagram, 600+ on Substack.
- Type of Content: Fashion, trends, parenting content and recipes.
- Fun fact: One of the most common questions she gets from her followers is “Are you still a dentist?” (The short answer is no, she recently published a longer answer on her Substack).
Q: Why is Louisville a good place to be an influencer?
A: I am a Louisville native, so I always feel a warm welcome in our city. The community, and women I’ve met here through my social media channels, have been so supportive and the local businesses have been a pleasure to share.
Q: How has your sense of style and fashion grown and evolved into what it is today?

A: In so many ways! When I started this journey 13 years ago, I was a fresh dental school graduate, newly married and living in Chicago. Over time, my style has evolved with my life in the best way. I am even more confident in my choices and like to have fun with fashion, never taking it too seriously and always encouraging women to wear what they feel good in.
Q: What do you hope other elder millennial moms take away from your content?
A: I hope my account is a place that brings my audience joy. I enjoy sharing ways to feel confident and comfortable in your outfit choices, how not to put yourself last in motherhood and always some laughs along the way.
Q: How do you balance your life as an influencer with other obligations such as work and family life?
A: I try very hard to set boundaries, and time frames when I turn work on and off like anyone else, so I can be present in other aspects of my life. I am hyper aware of screen time and always set limits for myself. Working from home has so many advantages and being your own boss offers lots of flexibility but that can also allow you to never shut off. Time blocking my day has been a lifesaver.
Q: How much effort does it take to engage with your following and how important is it to maintain those relationships?
A: It’s very important to me to maintain trust and communication with my audience so I block time each day to respond to DMs and emails. It’s something I enjoy most about the social media space and consider so many of the women I chat with friends!
