According to The Cosmic Circus, the topic came up during a recent Discord Q&A hosted by Alex Perez, who answered fan questions about several Marvel projects, including ‘VisionQuest’, ‘Wolverine’, and ‘X-Men’. When asked whether ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ would feature a full Man-Spider transformation or only show Peter Parker becoming more aggressive, Perez said, “I have heard about the concept of Man-Spider, but certain producers have expressed concern about how family audiences will react to an 8-legged monster appearing in the movie.” He added, “So last I heard, they don’t want to do that.”
What does Man-Spider mean for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’?
For fans unfamiliar with the concept, Man-Spider is a mutated version of Spider-Man that turns Peter Parker into a monstrous arachnid creature. The form appeared in Marvel Comics and in the 1990s animated TV series, where Jim Cummings voiced the character. Because of that history, the idea of Peter transforming into a multi-limbed monster has remained one of the more debated rumored plot points tied to ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’.
