Services to Manchester and others across the country were impacted
There were scenes of mayhem again at Euston on Wednesday (June 24) with huge crowds gathering on the concourse and passengers facing severe delays and cancellations.
Trains out of the major London station showed departure boards filled with cancellations or long delays due to the soaring heatwave and line and signalling system faults also causing chaos nearby.
Pictures showed hundreds of passengers packing out the main waiting area, much how they did in similar social media clips that went viral on Tuesday (June 23), describing the station as a ‘hell hole’.

The latest chaos comes after train services across the country were impacted by the surging heatwave on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching the highest ever recorded for June.
Service providers such as Northern and Avanti West Coast announced a major reduction in services, advising passengers to only travel if necessary.
Trains from London Euston to Manchester were among those cancelled or delayed on Wednesday evening. According to National Rail, the 6.53pm and 7.53pm services to Manchester Piccadilly were severely delayed and had not arrived as of 8pm.
No train services were listed for the station after 8.19pm, which is when a service to Birmingham New Street had been cancelled, along with a Wolverhampton service due to the faults.
The signalling error impacted Avanti West Coast services between London Euston and Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street, Holyhead and Edinburgh. It also impacted London Northwestern Railway and Overground services.
“A fault with the signalling system between Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted means that some lines are blocked,” an update read. “As a result, trains running between London Euston and Milton Keynes Central may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, or revised.”
“There is a hell on earth and it is London Euston on a day like today,” one person wrote on X, as another posted: “Euston needs demolishing completely ! The main train station serving Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool etc and it’s a cramped chaotic brutalist hell hole.”
Further delays due to slower and fewer services were caused by the heatwave, which has led to health warnings and major transport disruption. It is driven by a ‘heat-dome’ settling over western Europe that has brought extreme conditions across the continent.
Red heat health alerts have also been issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) for the East of England, East Midlands, London, the South East, the South West and the West Midlands, and amber heat health alerts for the North East, North West, and Yorkshire and The Humber.
Amid the weather conditions, transport services have been disrupted and people are being urged to stay inside, close windows and curtains and stay hydrated to beat the heat.
