Police launched a missing appeal before Michael Selwood was sadly found dead on Sunday

A man who was reported missing in Tameside has sadly been found dead.
Police shared a public appeal over the weekend after Michael Selwood was reported as missing. Sadly, he was found dead at around 5pm on Sunday (July 19).
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said his family has been informed. They are being supported by specialist officers.

No further details on Mr Selwood, or on the circumstances surrounding his death, have been released at this stage. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Sadly, officers searching for Michael found him deceased at around 5pm yesterday (19 July).
“Michael’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. We would like to thank everyone who shared and supported this appeal.”
