Renowned playback singer Udit Narayan Jha has opened up about the catastrophic floods currently devastating Nepal, stating that the sheer scale of the destruction has left him heartbroken. With deep-seated personal ties to the region—including his father’s Nepalese nationality and ancestral roots in the Mithila region—the tragedy has struck a particularly painful chord for the veteran artist.

A Personal Connection to the Crisis

The massive flooding, triggered by a significant glacial collapse in the Himalayan border region between Nepal and Tibet, has resulted in widespread devastation and prompted urgent, large-scale rescue operations.

For Udit Narayan, the news has been difficult to process. “It’s a very sad thing, but it’s God’s calling and we can do nothing in it,” he shared in a recent interview. The singer noted that while his immediate relatives and friends are currently safe from the most severely impacted zones, the persistent danger alerts across the region remain a source of significant anxiety. “We have not received much information, but the floods have spread, and danger alerts are in place everywhere,” he added.

Pledging Relief

Expressing a strong desire to support the victims, Jha emphasized that he is actively looking for a credible channel to provide financial aid. Disturbing Reports of Opportunistic Crime

In a disturbing incident near the Narayani River, two men were arrested after a video surfaced online appearing to show them stealing gold earrings from the body of a woman who had perished in the floods.

The 41-second clip, which went viral on social media, prompted swift action from local authorities. The Nepal Police have confirmed that both suspects are now in custody, facing accusations of desecrating the deceased for material gain. This incident has added a layer of profound moral outrage to an already tragic humanitarian situation.
