Over the last three days, the Telugu-language version of Ram Charan’s latest release, “Peddi”, has been doing phenomenal business in India and worldwide. It has already crossed Rs 190 crore worldwide in three days. At this pace (above 25 crore in daily net business), there’s no doubt about “Peddi” bypassing the lifetime gross of “Game Changer” and “Rangasthalam” in a couple of days.
However, of the domestic Rs 149.07 crore gross and Rs 125.25 crore net earned so far, the contributions from the Hindi and Malayalam markets have been abysmal so far, judging by the data tracked by Sacnilk. While Ram Charan enjoys immense recognition in the North post “RRR” success, the actor lacks the immediate, standalone pull in the Hindi belt that stars like Prabhas or Allu Arjun command for their solo projects.
Moreover, the movie’s uneven treatment seems not to have worked with audiences, despite featuring Hindi industry actors, and the severe public backlash over the hypersexualisation of Janhvi Kapoor’s character, forcing director Buchi Babu Sana to issue a public apology and re-edit the movie.
How much did the Hindi version of ‘Peddi’ make in three days?
Compared to Hindi versions of other Telugu-language blockbusters like “Pushpa 2” (200 crore), “Devara – Part 1” (29 crore), and “Kalki 2898 AD” (72 crore), the Hindi version of “Peddi” hasn’t generated the same level of interest — in fact, it has drastically underperformed compared to the aforementioned movies. The Hindi-dubbed version of “Peddi” brought in just Rs 2.80 crore on Day 3, wrapping up its opening weekend under the Rs 10 crore mark.
How much did the Malayalam version of ‘Peddi’ make in three days?
Much like the Hindi version, the Malayalam-dubbed version of “Peddi” registered an extremely weak performance with negligible figures. The film has failed to strike a chord with filmgoers in Kerala, making the state one of its lowest-performing territories nationwide. From Kerala, “Peddi” generated just Rs 16 lakhs over three days. Although Ram Charan commands a significant fan base in Kerala following “Magadheera” and “RRR”, his standalone star power failed to translate into active ticket sales for “Peddi”.
