A much-loved North East landmark has been forced to reduce its service following a break-in. Gibside, near Rowlands Gill, said the incident at the National Trust site happened overnight on Thursday and has been reported to police.
Northumbria Police confirmed that officers are aware of the report. Today, Gibside staff informed the public that food service will be delayed due to the kitchen opening later than usual.
In an online statement, a spokesperson for Gibside said: “Following a break‑in overnight, parts of Gibside have been affected. The incident is under police investigation and we’re unable to provide further details.
“The kitchen will open later today, which means food service will be delayed and scones won’t be available. Thank you for your understanding as we support our teams and restore normal service.”
