‘Ramayana: The Introduction’ to Feature Explosive Sunny Deol Reveal in Cliffhanger Finale

Anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana: The Introduction, has reached a fever pitch as new reports suggest a strategic move to preserve one of the film’s biggest secrets. While the first trailer, released on July 30, offered a grand look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the formidable Ravana, one key character has remained conspicuously absent from the spotlight: Sunny Deol, who portrays Lord Hanuman.

A Calculated Cinematic Strategy

According to industry reports, the production team is intentionally keeping Sunny Deol’s look under wraps until the final moments of the first instalment. Rather than featuring him in the promotional lead-up, the makers are reportedly positioning his appearance as a high-impact climax or a post-credit sequence.

This marketing strategy aims to mirror the massive pop-culture frenzy triggered by the ending of Baahubali: The Beginning. By treating the reveal of Lord Hanuman as a cliffhanger, the producers hope to secure a “Baahubali-style” engagement, leaving audiences electrified and desperate for the follow-up, Ramayana: Part 2.

While the general public has yet to see Deol in his divine avatar, attendees at the CinemaCon 2026 presentation in Las Vegas were treated to an exclusive glimpse of the actor, who reportedly appears in an entirely unique and transformative look.

Global Scale Impresses Industry Insiders

The buzz surrounding the project was further amplified following an exclusive 15-minute preview of the film at the Big Cine Expo 2026 in Chennai. Exhibitors were granted a rare look at the movie’s production quality, which showcased an array of mythological creatures, including intricate “one-eyed daitya” designs and bear-like entities.

Industry insiders who attended the private screening were left stunned by the visual effects, with some comparing the film’s grandiosity to Hollywood epics like The Lord of the Rings. This presentation, which featured insights from producer Namit Malhotra, has solidified the belief that the project is poised to become a landmark “global Indian film.”

A Massive Cinematic Event

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part saga is being mounted on an unprecedented scale, filmed specifically for IMAX. The project boasts an A-list ensemble, including Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, alongside Rakul Preet Singh and Lara Dutta. Adding to the international pedigree, the musical score is a collaboration between legends Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, while the visual effects are being spearheaded by the award-winning studio DNEG.

As the Ramayana: The Introduction release date approaches, fans are marking their calendars for Diwali 2026. The film is slated for an international debut on November 6, 2026, followed by its Indian theatrical release on November 8. With the sequel already slated for Diwali 2027, the stage is set for a multi-year cinematic event that promises to redefine Indian mythological storytelling on the big screen.
