Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, currently immersed in his upcoming zombie thriller, “Pralay,” has reportedly influenced a significant shift in the film’s production. Originally slated for an Australian shoot, the movie’s filming location has now been relocated to Mumbai, a decision primarily attributed to Singh’s desire to remain close to his pregnant wife, Deepika Padukone.
According to an India Today report, Singh’s paramount concern is to be by Padukone’s side as they anticipate the arrival of their second child. The actor, aged 41, expressed a strong preference to avoid prolonged separation from Deepika during this crucial phase of her pregnancy, prompting the filmmakers to revise their initial shooting plans. The report explicitly states, “Ranveer wants to be around Deepika as they embrace parenthood for the second time. He doesn’t want to be away, and hence the production is making arrangements to shift the schedule here in the city.”
However, personal reasons are not the sole factor in this logistical adjustment. The production team also encountered difficulties in securing the necessary permits to film at certain desired locations across Australia. The confluence of Singh’s personal preference and these logistical hurdles led to a mutual agreement between the actor and the production team that relocating the shoot to Mumbai would be the most pragmatic and efficient solution.
“Pralay,” directed by Jai Mehta, the son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta, is envisioned as a visually effects-heavy, post-apocalyptic thriller. The project is reportedly being mounted on a substantial budget of approximately Rs 300 crore. Early reports suggest the narrative will follow a married couple battling for survival in a dystopian Mumbai, marking Ranveer Singh’s inaugural foray into the demanding zombie-survival genre. The film is currently in its pre-production phase, with specific plot details and the full scope of the production being kept under wraps by the makers.
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who welcomed their daughter Dua in September 2024, shared the joyous news of their second pregnancy earlier this year. “Pralay” stands as one of several projects lined up for Ranveer Singh following his work on “Dhurandhar.”
