Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar Out of Dutch Grand Prix with Wrist Injury; Liam Lawson Tipped for Return

Zandvoort, Netherlands – Red Bull Racing faces an unexpected driver change for the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix as rising star Isack Hadjar is set to miss the race due to a wrist injury sustained during routine training. While Red Bull has yet to officially confirm Hadjar’s injury or comment on the matter, Sky Sports News understands that the Frenchman is highly unlikely to be fit enough to compete at Zandvoort.

This sudden development throws a curveball into Red Bull’s plans as the Formula 1 season resumes after the summer break. Hadjar, 21, has been a significant presence in his debut season with Red Bull, having been promoted after an impressive rookie year with junior team Racing Bulls. His current performance, placing him eighth in the drivers’ standings, 41 points behind teammate Max Verstappen, has solidified expectations for him to remain alongside Verstappen next year, despite both drivers grappling with a "troublesome car" this season.

The immediate focus now shifts to Hadjar’s replacement for the Zandvoort race. Speculation is rife that Liam Lawson will step up from Red Bull’s junior team, Racing Bulls, to drive alongside reigning world champion Max Verstappen. This potential return marks a significant moment for Lawson, who was controversially dropped by Red Bull just two races into the 2025 season after being named as Sergio Perez’s replacement. His swift removal saw Yuki Tsunoda take his place for the remainder of that year.

Should Lawson indeed take the wheel, his vacated seat at Racing Bulls is expected to be filled by reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda, who would race alongside Arvid Lindblad. For the 26-year-old Tsunoda, a drive in Zandvoort could be a crucial opportunity to showcase his capabilities and potentially re-enter the frame for a full-time grid position in 2027.

Hadjar’s injury provides him with two additional weeks to recover before the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, scheduled from September 4-6. The team will be hoping for a swift recovery from their young talent.

The Formula 1 season resumes with a Sprint weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix this Friday, with every session broadcast live on Sky Sports. Fans can stream the action with NOW.
