Shots were fired on Lemon Tree Walk in St Helens
A man has been arrested after shots were fired in the early hours of this morning. Police were called just after 9am on Saturday, July 18 to Lemon Tree Walk in St Helens after reports that shots were fired.
No-one was injured during the incident. Armed officers later arrested a 37-year-old man from St Helens on suspicion of firearm offences. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside where he remains in custody. Officers also searched the area of Lemon Tree Walk and found several casings.
A police scene is currently in place in the area while officers carry out the early stages of an investigation, which will include CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.
Detective Inspector Steven Byrom said: “Although armed officers made a swift arrest this morning after the incident I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or has any information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward.
“I would also like to appeal to anyone who lives in the area, who has doorbell footage that may have captured the incident to get in touch.
“I would like to reassure anyone who lives in the area that our officers immediately respond to incidents such as these involving firearms and remain in the area carrying out witness enquiries.
“We are relentless in our pursuit of any offenders who carry dangerous weapons in our community and urge anyone who has any information to contact us so we can continue out investigation.”
