The latest cinematic offering featuring Tom Holland as the titular web-slinger, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” has successfully concluded its second week in Indian cinemas, establishing a formidable presence at the box office. The film has not only surpassed the coveted 100 crore rupee milestone but has continued to build upon its impressive financial performance.
On its fifteenth day of release, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” garnered an estimated net collection of 5.40 crore rupees across a staggering 12,192 shows, according to initial projections from Sacnilk. This figure represents a slight dip of approximately 16.3% compared to the previous day’s earnings, where the film secured an estimated 6.45 crore rupees net. Despite this minor fluctuation, the film’s gross collection for day 15 reached an impressive 6.44 crore rupees. These numbers propel the movie’s cumulative net collection in India to an approximate 443.40 crore rupees, with its overall gross collection standing strong at 530.08 crore rupees.
The film’s initial impact was significant, opening its run in India with a remarkable 334.75 crore rupees during its first week. It maintained this strong momentum through its second week, adding an estimated 108.65 crore rupees net. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, placing “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” among a select group of films in recent box office history to achieve a 100 crore rupee net collection in their second week. This sustained success underscores the enduring appeal of the Spider-Man franchise and the star power of its lead actor.
However, the unchallenged reign of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now poised to face substantial competition as it enters its third week. The highly anticipated Emraan Hashmi-starrer, “Awarapan 2,” is set to hit theaters, promising a formidable challenge. The return of Hashmi to one of his most iconic roles has generated considerable excitement across India in anticipation of its August 14th release. Early indications suggest strong audience interest, with advance bookings demonstrating significant momentum, undoubtedly fueled by the nostalgia surrounding the original 2007 film. Sacnilk reports that “Awarapan 2” has already secured an advance-booking gross of approximately 5.86 crore rupees for its opening day, distributing nearly 1.94 lakh tickets across 8,619 shows. Including blocked seats, the gross total for advance sales climbs to an estimated 8.63 crore rupees, a figure that positions it ahead of several recent releases, including “Housefull 5,” “Shaitaan,” and “Raid 2,” in terms of pre-sales.
Adding to the competitive landscape, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will also contend with the release of Sunny Deol’s “Batwara 1947” and a new Hollywood offering, “The End of Oak Street,” which will debut with an IMAX release, further intensifying the battle for box office dominance.
