People can discover how the region is preparing for major climate events such as flooding and drought at a free event in Stamford next month.
The Community Resilience event will be held in Stamford Town Hall on Tuesday, June 9 from 2pm to 7pm and is open to everyone.
It will highlight the work being carried out by organisations to help communities respond to challenges such as flooding, power cuts and disruption to local infrastructure.
Richard Joy, from Stamford Climate Action Now, said: “This event provides a fascinating insight into how our region is building resilience to disruptive events such as flooding, droughts or major incidents.”
It will feature talks and presentations covering environmental issues, as well as information about local Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT).
These volunteer-led teams have been set up by Lincolnshire County Council to support residents during emergencies and unexpected incidents.
There is also the chance to learn about the latest renewable energy technologies available for homes, and volunteer groups that you can join to help build resilient local communities.
The drop-in event will feature talks on the role of CERTs at 2.30pm and 5pm, emergency planning and community resilience at 3pm and 6pm, and the potential implications of climate change, at 3.30pm and 6.30pm
The role of the Environment Agency in protecting communities will be discused at 4pm, while anticipating disruptive events and early warning telemetry is at 4.30pm.
