Xbox Unveils Nostalgic ‘OG Green’ Accessories to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
As the milestone quarter-century mark for the Xbox brand approaches, Microsoft is leaning heavily into nostalgia. Today, the company officially opened pre-orders for its highly anticipated Designed for Xbox 25th Anniversary collection, a suite of hardware that pays direct tribute to the iconic Halo special edition of the original Xbox console.
The collection is defined by a signature translucent “OG Green” aesthetic, perfectly color-matching the limited edition Xbox Series X console first unveiled by Microsoft during E3 this past June. Fans looking to outfit their gaming setups with a cohesive, retro-inspired look will find a variety of peripherals receiving the 25th-anniversary treatment.
Razer Joins the Retro Wave
High-end hardware manufacturer Razer has spearheaded the collection, contributing several of its flagship products dressed in the commemorative green. The lineup includes:
- Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K Mouse: A precision gaming mouse designed for competitive play.
- Razer BlackWidow V4 75% Keyboard: A mechanical keyboard featuring the translucent finish.
- Razer Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed Earbuds: Bringing the aesthetic to mobile and console audio.
Expanded Ecosystem Support
The anniversary celebration extends beyond PC peripherals, offering functional upgrades for console users as well. 8BitDo has introduced a translucent green version of its Ultimate charging dock, compatible with both Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One controllers. For mobile gamers, GameSir has unveiled the X5 Lite, a translucent green mobile controller designed to transform smartphones into portable Xbox machines.
The Backbone Blind Box Surprise
Not every item in the collection adheres to the “OG Green” color scheme. Breaking the mold is a special edition of the Backbone Pro mobile controller. Departing from the green theme, this edition is available in clear, translucent blue, and translucent orange variants.
Adding an element of mystery to the launch, Microsoft and Backbone are distributing these as “blind boxes,” meaning buyers will not know which of the three colors they have received until they open their package.
For those needing to transport their gear, the collection also includes a sleek, stealthy black PowerA sling bag, serving as the only non-translucent accessory in the entire anniversary range.
With these limited-edition releases, Microsoft is effectively bridging the gap between the brand’s humble beginnings and its current hardware prowess. Fans are encouraged to act quickly, as these items are expected to be produced in limited quantities to honor the brand’s 25-year legacy.
