Major search operation underway for teenage boy missing off Pembrokeshire coast

A large-scale search and rescue operation is continuing along the Welsh coastline following reports that a teenage boy has been swept out to sea.

Fears for the youth’s safety have grown significantly after he vanished beneath the waves on Sunday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. at Marloes Sands, a picturesque but often unpredictable stretch of the Pembrokeshire coast.

According to officials, the boy had been swimming in the water alongside two other people when they suddenly encountered difficulty. While the other two individuals managed to navigate the currents and pull themselves to safety, the third teenager disappeared from view.

Emergency services were alerted immediately, triggering a rapid, multi-agency response. Throughout the evening and overnight, rescue teams have been scouring the coastline. A coastguard helicopter has been deployed to the area, utilizing aerial surveillance to search the waters and the surrounding cliffs.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard confirmed the details of the rescue operation: “At around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, we received a report of three people in difficulty in the water and requiring assistance at Marloes, Pembrokeshire. Two of the three people self-rescued, and one person remains unaccounted for.”

As the search continues, Dyfed-Powys Police have issued a formal request for members of the public to avoid the Marloes Sands area to allow emergency crews to conduct their work without obstruction.
