Ties With India 'Valuable Asset': Iran President On 80th Independence Day

On Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian extended heartfelt congratulations to India on its Independence Day, emphasizing the profound historical ties between the two nations as a crucial foundation for strengthening bilateral relations. In a message addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, published on the president’s official website, Pezeshkian underscored the deep historical, cultural, civilizational, and people-to-people connections, describing them as invaluable assets for charting a brighter future in their relationship, grounded in shared interests.

The Iranian President articulated his country’s strong desire to enhance comprehensive relations with India, stating that “the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to take more effective steps to strengthen relations between the two countries and secure the common interests of the two nations, in light of mutual trust and respect and by utilising the extensive existing capacities.” He further offered prayers for the prosperity, progress, and happiness of India, wishing for the long-standing bond between the two countries to flourish.

This message from Iran is part of a broader outpouring of international goodwill as India commemorated its Independence Day. Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, acknowledged these felicitations on X, expressing gratitude to the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan, Guatemala, and Peru for their kind wishes.

Earlier on Saturday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also conveyed his felicitations, reflecting on the arduous yet ultimately triumphant journey towards a free and independent India, powered by an indomitable spirit and ushering in a new era of hope.

Global leaders universally acknowledged India’s growing influence and achievements. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his message to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lauded India’s “remarkable progress” across economic, social, scientific, and technological spheres, recognizing its significant authority on the international stage. Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening its partnership with India and the enduring friendship shared by their peoples. French President Emmanuel Macron extended his warm wishes to the people of India on the occasion of the nation’s 80th Independence Day, marking a significant milestone. Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as his “elder brother,” expressed his hope for the continued flourishing of the close friendship and bond between Bhutan and India.

These numerous greetings from around the world highlight the extensive reach of India’s diplomatic engagement and the global appreciation for its emphasis on friendship, cooperation, and fostering a peaceful and prosperous region as it celebrates 80 years of independence. These messages collectively underscore the international community’s recognition of India’s increasing role and importance in global affairs.
