Vietjet Thailand Boosts Winter Capacity to Meet Surging Year-End Travel Demand
BANGKOK — As the year-end travel season approaches, Vietjet Thailand has officially announced a significant expansion of its flight network. The airline is ramping up flight frequencies across its domestic and international routes, aiming to accommodate the heightened demand projected through the first quarter of 2027.
The airline’s winter schedule, which officially kicked off in the final quarter of 2026, marks a strategic effort to bolster Thailand’s tourism sector while providing travelers with increased flexibility. Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, Mr. Woranate, highlighted that the capacity expansion is a calculated move to align with market potential.
“The final quarter of the year through early 2027 is a period of heightened travel demand across both domestic and international markets,” said Mr. Woranate. “We are optimizing our fleet operations to ensure we continue to offer convenient, affordable, and accessible travel options while supporting the growth of Thailand’s tourism industry.”
Domestically, the carrier is increasing capacity by up to 25% across its 12 current routes. A major highlight of this expansion is the resumption of the Phuket–Chiang Rai service. Operating from its main hub at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the airline is scaling up services to ten key Thai destinations. Chiang Mai remains a primary focus, with the airline operating up to 12 daily flights, while service to Phuket will see up to 10 flights per day. Other destinations, including Krabi, Hat Yai, Udon Thani, and Ubon Ratchathani, will also see increased connectivity to support the surge in holiday travel.
On the international front, Vietjet Thailand is placing a heavy emphasis on the high-demand markets of Japan and Malaysia. Starting November 6, the Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)–Tokyo (Narita) route will increase from seven to eleven round-trip flights per week. The following week, on November 13, the Bangkok–Osaka (Kansai) route will move to a daily schedule, rising from four to seven round-trip flights per week. Additionally, travelers heading to Malaysia will benefit from increased capacity, with the Bangkok–Kuala Lumpur route expanding to two daily round-trip flights effective December 3.
These enhancements are part of a broader strategy to strengthen air connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region, where the airline currently operates 17 international routes covering China, Vietnam, South Korea, and Cambodia, alongside its Japan and Malaysia services.
By optimizing its flight schedules and increasing service frequency, Vietjet Thailand aims to provide a seamless travel experience during the peak holiday season. Passengers are encouraged to monitor the airline’s official social media channels for the latest updates and promotional offers as the peak travel window approaches.
