Papon has called for urgent, long-term measures to tackle Assam’s recurring flood crisis. Speaking about the devastation caused by floods, the singer said, “Every year, floods bring immense pain and loss to Assam. They remain one of the country’s biggest and most recurring natural calamities, and our geography, combined with deforestation and changing environmental conditions, has made this challenge even more severe.”Highlighting the need for better infrastructure, he added, “While relief efforts are essential, we also need stronger infrastructure and long-term solutions so that people don’t have to rebuild their lives every monsoon.”Papon also urged citizens to support flood-affected communities and contribute however they can. “Through our foundation, we are doing our bit to support affected communities on the ground, and I urge everyone to come forward in whatever way they can. Every helping hand matters, but more importantly, I hope we collectively work towards lasting solutions that can make Assam more resilient in the years to come,” he said. His appeal comes as Assam continues to grapple with the devastating effects of flooding, which has displaced thousands of families and caused extensive damage to homes, livelihoods and infrastructure.
