WSBK, BREAKING NEWS – Lecuona and Gardner receive three-position grid penalty at Balaton


It hasn’t been an easy Saturday for Iker Lecuona. After a Superpole where he played catch-up—and ended with a fifth-place finish because of a Panigale V4 R that was “completely different than yesterday“—the Spanish rider was handed a three-grid-position penalty for riding too slowly during this morning’s qualifying session. That was a cold shower for Lecuona, who’s now forced to start from the third row, sandwiched between Alberto Surra’s and Alvaro Bautista’s Ducatis, in the race that’s set to start at 3:30 p.m..

However, the Aruba.it Racing Ducati rider isn’t the only one who was demoted three positions by Race Direction. The same penalty was also imposed on Remy Gardner for the same reason, He’ll now have to start from 17th place in Race 1.
