Wyndham Targets Rapid Growth in India with Debut of Vienna House Brand

Global hospitality giant Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is aggressively expanding its footprint in India, marking a significant milestone by introducing its European lifestyle brand, Vienna House, to the Asian market for the first time.

The new project, Vienna House Easy Vrindavan, will be a 100-room, four-star lifestyle property located in the spiritual hub of Uttar Pradesh. Developed in partnership with Sachin Kumar of Kumar Beverages Industries and Nardev Chaudhary, the hotel is slated to welcome its first guests in 2029.

A New Chapter in India’s Hospitality Landscape

The entry of Vienna House into India is part of a broader strategy to solidify Wyndham’s position as the country’s fastest-growing international hotel group. Dimitris Manakis, President of EMEA at Wyndham, highlighted the group’s intention to pivot toward larger “big-box” properties—those with over 100 rooms—in high-yield, tier-one markets such as Udaipur and Jaipur.

“We’re opening more big-box hotels in locations where the revenue per available room is higher,” Manakis noted in a recent interview. Currently operating 96 hotels across the country, the group is on track to hit the 100-hotel milestone by the end of 2026.

Beyond traditional hotel stays, Wyndham is also pivoting toward the lucrative branded residential sector. The company plans to introduce its first branded residences to the Indian market by the end of this year, capitalizing on the rising trend of mixed-use developments that blend hotel amenities with private luxury living.

A Diverse Portfolio Expansion

Wyndham’s expansion plans extend well beyond the Vienna House debut. The group is actively diversifying its portfolio across the region with several high-profile projects:

  • Luxury & Resorts: In Rajasthan, the 310-room Wyndham Grand Resort Jaipur Amer is expected to open in early 2027. Additionally, the Anamore Registry Collection by Wyndham Pushkar—a massive 18-acre destination resort designed for high-end weddings and events—is scheduled for an autumn 2027 launch.
  • Wellness & Lifestyle: The wellness-oriented Dolce by Wyndham brand is expanding with two upcoming resorts in Udaipur and Goa, both targeted for 2030.
  • Strategic Growth: Construction is underway for a Wyndham Garden in Lucknow, while the Ramada Resort by Wyndham Idukki Thekkady is currently being refurbished in Kerala for a 2027 opening.

Global Heritage, Local Impact

The Vienna House brand, originally established in Europe over 30 years ago and acquired by Wyndham in 2022, is known for its distinct central European flair. While the brand is now making waves in India, it remains a cornerstone of Wyndham’s European strategy. The company is simultaneously expanding the brand in its home region, with the 88-room Vienna House by Wyndham Oldenburg in Germany and the 58-room Vienna House by Wyndham Tbilisi in Georgia both in the development pipeline.

As the Wyndham brand continues to bridge the gap between European design and Indian hospitality, the group’s multi-pronged approach of targeting both luxury resort destinations and major urban centers underscores its ambition to dominate the rapidly evolving Indian travel sector.
