Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the B2139 Storrington Road, just south of the village of Thakeham, in West Sussex.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4pm on Sunday, August 2, following reports of a single-vehicle collision.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, a man in his 20s from Thakeham, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but later died.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, police added.
“Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time,” a spokesperson for Sussex Police said.
The road was closed for several hours while emergency services responded, and collision investigation work was carried out.
The spokesperson continued: “An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing, and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or captured any relevant CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage.
“Anyone with information is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting Operation Kale or email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk.”
