Johannesburg, South Africa – Duan Jansen, the promising twin brother of South African all-rounder Marco Jansen, has received his maiden senior international call-up, poised to make his debut during South Africa’s upcoming white-ball tour of Namibia. This significant milestone marks a new chapter for the younger Jansen, who has been consistently impressing in domestic cricket.

The 15-member squad, under the leadership of experienced spinner Bjorn Fortuin, will embark on a multi-format tour. Their itinerary includes a T20I tri-series involving hosts Namibia and Zimbabwe, followed by a historic three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Namibia.

Duan Jansen Gets His Chance

The T20I tri-series is slated to run from August 28 to September 6 in Windhoek. Following this, the focus will shift to the three ODIs against Namibia, scheduled from September 9 to 13. This ODI series holds particular significance as it will be the first bilateral 50-over contest ever played between the two neighbouring African nations.

Duan Jansen’s selection is a direct result of his stellar performance in the recent 2025/26 domestic season. His impactful contributions saw him named the Division 1 One Day Cup Player of the Year. A standout moment was his unbeaten 61 in the final against the Lions, a crucial innings that propelled the Titans to clinch the title.

He isn’t the only new face in the squad; Eathan Bosch has also earned his first T20I call-up. Furthermore, Connor Esterhuizen, Jordan Hermann, and Nqobani Mokoena have received their maiden ODI selections, signaling a concerted effort to broaden South Africa’s player pool.

“We’ve selected one squad for both series as we feel we have all departments well covered and it provides a great opportunity for players to build on their international caps. We saw glimpses of what Connor and Nqobani can offer during the T20I series against New Zealand earlier this year. It was unfortunate that Jordan picked up an injury in the opening match of that series, so we’re looking forward to seeing him get another opportunity at this level,” commented Coach Shukri Conrad.

South Africa Look to Build Depth

Coach Conrad further elaborated on the strategic decision to utilize a single squad for both formats, emphasizing the benefits of continuity and invaluable international exposure for the players. The squad will also be bolstered by the presence of nationally contracted players Dewald Brevis, Tony de Zorzi, and Kwena Maphaka, who will provide crucial experience.

“This tour has also opened the door for players who have performed domestically. Duan is one of those players. He is a quality all-rounder who has also shown great character for the Titans. Bjorn is an experienced player and proven leader who has successfully captained the Lions, and we have every confidence in his ability to lead this group. It is always exciting to play against our neighbouring countries, and the first-ever ODI series between South Africa and Namibia adds further significance, especially as we build towards next year’s World Cup,” Conrad added, highlighting the long-term vision behind these selections.

The South African contingent is scheduled to depart from Johannesburg for Windhoek on August 25, ready to embark on what promises to be an engaging and developmental tour.
