'Vishwanath And Sons' box office collection day 1 [Live]: Suriya starrer eyes bigger opening than 'Karuppu' after positive reviews

The cinematic debut of Suriya’s ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ has commenced with an encouraging reception from its initial audience. The film, which premiered today, is garnering attention for its compelling family narrative, strong performances, and a generally lighter tone, resonating positively with viewers. While the definitive box office figures are still being tallied, the overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth buzz is fueling optimism for a robust collection throughout the forthcoming weekend. There is a palpable expectation that the film’s momentum will intensify as more spectators flock to cinemas.

Early reports from Sacnilk indicate that ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ has already amassed an impressive net collection of ₹2.33 crore across India on its inaugural day, with the final tally still pending. The Suriya-led feature is currently showcased in 1,652 screenings, achieving an average occupancy rate of approximately 30.3%. The estimated India gross for the film stands at ₹2.75 crore, complementing its net collection of ₹2.33 crore. Delving into the linguistic breakdown, the Tamil rendition has contributed around ₹1.34 crore net from 1,099 shows, maintaining a 28% occupancy. Conversely, the Telugu version has secured an estimated lakh net from 553 shows, exhibiting a higher occupancy rate of 35%.

Current projections and early figures position ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ in a compelling comparison with Suriya’s prior cinematic offering, ‘Karuppu’, which enjoyed a significantly larger opening. ‘Karuppu’ recorded a substantial ₹15.50 crore net on its first day from 4,891 shows, culminating in an India gross of ₹17.93 crore. Furthermore, ‘Karuppu’ garnered ₹11 crore gross from international markets, propelling its global opening-day gross to an impressive ₹28.93 crore. However, the favorable initial response to ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ has ignited hopes that the film will experience a substantial surge in collections during the evening screenings and throughout the weekend. The expectation is for an increased occupancy over the next two days, and with sustained positive feedback, the film could potentially bridge the gap and even surpass the overall opening performance of ‘Karuppu’.

Directed by Venky Atluri, ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ features Suriya in the pivotal leading role, supported by a talented ensemble including Mamitha Baiju, Raveena Tandon, and Radikaa Sarathkumar in significant characters. The film deftly interweaves themes of family emotions, romance, humor, and drama, presenting Suriya in a notably more lighthearted portrayal. He embodies the character of Sanjay Vishwanath, an internationally acclaimed pistol shooter whose life takes an unforeseen turn following a profound family crisis. As the initial day’s collection data continues to emerge, the film’s performance over the weekend will be crucial in determining whether the positive early feedback translates into a sustained and robust box office trajectory.
