Farah Khan opens up about her daughters' insecurities: 'They think they are very ugly'

Renowned filmmaker Farah Khan, known for frequently sharing glimpses of her family life on social media, has openly discussed a poignant issue affecting her twin daughters: their deep-seated insecurities regarding their physical appearance. The director revealed that her children harbor a belief that they are not attractive, an admission that has sparked a broader discussion about self-image and confidence in young people, particularly in an era dominated by social media pressures.

During a recent YouTube vlog featuring ‘Lock Upp 2’ contestant Akanksha Choudhary, Farah delved into Akanksha’s journey within the competitive entertainment industry. Akanksha, who previously participated in beauty pageants before joining ‘Splitsvilla,’ candidly confessed to a profound lack of self-confidence in her past. She articulated, “Main toh mujhe sabse ugly lagti thi duniya mei (I used to find myself the ugliest in the entire world),” highlighting the pervasive nature of self-doubt.

To illustrate her past struggles, Akanksha presented Farah with photographs from her teenage years, detailing the intense insecurity she experienced during that formative period. In a remarkably empathetic and relatable response, Farah shared, “Please meet my daughters then! Even they feel that they are very ugly.” Akanksha, however, offered a comforting counterpoint, stating that she had indeed met them and found them to be exceptionally charming and “very cute.” This exchange underscores the often-discrepant perception individuals have of themselves versus how others perceive them.

Farah Khan is a mother to triplets, Diva, Anya, and Czar, whom she shares with her husband, Shirish Kunder. In May, the proud mother shared heartwarming photographs from their graduation ceremony at the prestigious Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai. This significant milestone marks their transition as the trio prepares to embark on their university education later this year.

In an earlier segment of ‘Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle,’ Farah elaborated on her decision to venture into the world of YouTube content creation. She explained that this endeavor arose during a quieter period in her directing career. “Even when my movie was not happening, when I wasn’t directing, I said chal (come on), let me do YouTube.” She further highlighted a practical motivation: “Also, I have 3 kids who will go to university next year, and that’s bloody expensive. So I just said for a change, let me start a show on YouTube, and that just clicked.” This candid admission reveals the financial considerations that often influence career choices, even for established personalities.

Looking ahead, Farah Khan recently hinted in one of her vlogs about her eventual return to filmmaking. She playfully stated that she would resume directing feature films once superstar Shah Rukh Khan agrees to collaborate with her on a new project, much to the delight of her fans.
