KEA opens Karnataka PG Dental admissions 2026: Check eligibility, deadlines, and key rules

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially initiated the online application process for Post Graduate Dental admissions for the academic session spanning 2026-27. This comprehensive admission drive encompasses a wide array of coveted seats, including those within government dental colleges, government quota allocations in private and minority dental institutions, and the privately managed seats across Karnataka’s dental colleges.

According to the most recent notification released by the KEA, prospective candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to register through the official KEA website. The registration portal became active on August 14th at 11 AM and will remain accessible until 11:59 PM on August 17th, 2026. A crucial subsequent step is the completion of fee payment, for which the deadline is set for 6 PM on August 18th, 2026. To aid applicants through this process, the KEA has also made available direct links pertaining to document verification procedures and the overall PG MDS admission framework.

This compressed admission schedule provides applicants with a remarkably brief window to complete their application formalities. Aspirants vying for admission into PG Dental courses are strongly advised to meticulously review the PGNEET-2026 Information Bulletin prior to submitting their online forms. The authority has unequivocally stated that candidates must fulfill all prescribed eligibility conditions and adhere strictly to the stipulated procedures for submitting required documents and certificates. Given the stringent timeline, it is imperative that applicants avoid procrastinating and complete their registration and fee payment well in advance of the respective deadlines. Failing to meet either of these crucial cut-off dates could unfortunately lead to their exclusion from the current admission cycle.

A mandatory prerequisite for admission to these PG Dental courses is a valid qualification in NEET MDS 2026. Only candidates who have achieved scores at or above the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET MDS are eligible to apply for the Karnataka admission process. However, it is vital to understand that simply qualifying NEET MDS does not automatically confer eligibility for every seat category. The complex interplay of Karnataka’s specific eligibility norms, reservation policies, and defined seat categories will ultimately determine which candidates can successfully secure particular seats during the admission process.

A significant point highlighted in the KEA notification pertains to candidates who are not residents of Karnataka. Such individuals will not be permitted to claim reservation benefits under Karnataka’s state-specific reserved categories. Non-Karnataka candidates can only participate if they have met the minimum qualifying standard prescribed for the General or Unreserved category. The notification explicitly specifies the 50th percentile as the qualifying threshold for this General category. This distinction is paramount, as merely satisfying the NEET MDS qualifying requirement does not grant an applicant from outside Karnataka access to the state’s Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation advantages.

The KEA has further clarified that Karnataka’s SC, ST, and OBC eligibility criteria are exclusively applicable to candidates who satisfy the state’s specific requirements for these categories. There is also a distinct documentation requirement for Scheduled Caste candidates. Those seeking seats under the SC category must possess caste certificates that clearly indicate the relevant internal reservation classification, such as SCA, SCB, or SCC, and must accurately input the RD number during their application submission. Failure to furnish the requisite certificate or provide the precise details could unfortunately prevent a candidate from opting for seats reserved under the Scheduled Caste category.

The KEA has also issued an update regarding document verification for PG Dental admissions. Therefore, candidates should ensure all their certificates and supporting documents are readily available and meticulously follow the verification instructions provided by the authority. The document verification stage is far from a mere formality. Candidates asserting eligibility or claiming reservation based on specific documents must be prepared to substantiate these claims when requested by the KEA.

For all aspiring PG Dental students, it is of utmost importance to meticulously complete their registration process, ensuring absolute accuracy in their applications. Candidates are strongly urged to consult the official Information Bulletin and any subsequent notices released by the KEA before proceeding with their applications. As of now, the KEA’s official website hosts the PG-Dental 2026 online application link, alongside crucial updates concerning document verification and the PG Medical/Dental e-information brochure. With the registration deadline for PG-Dental 2026 set for August 17th, 2026, and the application fee payment deadline on August 18th, 2026, candidates should treat these dates as immutable and not anticipate any extensions.
