‘DC’ Maintains Steady Box Office Run, Crosses Rs 58 Crore Net in India

Mumbai, India – Lokesh Kanagaraj’s acting debut in ‘DC’, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi, continues to impress at the box office, registering another day of steady earnings on its second Tuesday. The film, directed by Arun Matheswaran, garnered Rs 1.81 crore (US$217,000) net in India on Day 12, bringing its total domestic net collection to an impressive Rs 58.57 crore (US$7 million).

The latest figures, reported by Sacnilk, indicate a 9.5% decline from the Rs 2.00 crore (US$240,000) earned on Day 11. Despite the slight dip, the film maintained a strong presence across the country, with 2,093 shows screened on Tuesday.

‘DC’s’ India gross collection now stands at Rs 67.43 crore (US$8.1 million), while its overseas gross has reached Rs 21.50 crore (US$2.5 million). This pushes the film’s worldwide gross collection to a significant Rs 88.93 crore (US$10.6 million).

Tamil Version Dominates Domestic Earnings

The Tamil version of ‘DC’ continues to be the driving force behind its domestic success, contributing a substantial Rs 1.28 crore (US$154,000) on Day 12 from 1,431 shows. This version recorded an overall occupancy of 24%, with night shows exhibiting the strongest performance at 39.08%. Morning shows saw 22.77% occupancy, afternoon shows 29.23%, and evening shows 21.92%.

Second Week Momentum and Critical Acclaim

‘DC’ entered its second week after a robust first seven days, collecting Rs 41.90 crore (US$5 million). While weekday collections have naturally seen a decrease, the film’s second Monday brought in Rs 2.00 crore (US$240,000), followed by Tuesday’s Rs 1.81 crore (US$217,000). These consistent numbers have pushed its India net total beyond the Rs 58 crore (US$7 million) mark.

The film has also garnered significant praise from prominent personalities in the film industry. Telugu superstar Allu Arjun, after watching ‘DC’, took to social media platform X to commend the film, calling it a "Tamil classic" and a "poetry for those who get it." He specifically lauded director Arun Matheswaran, music composer Anirudh Ravichander for his "absolute master booster" score, and the entire cast, particularly Wamiqa Gabbi and Lokesh Kanagaraj for their performances.

Another cinematic icon, Mahesh Babu, also shared his positive reaction on X, describing ‘DC’ as "an original and outstanding film. Just too cool… Loved every bit of it!!"

‘DC’ marks a significant milestone for Lokesh Kanagaraj, known primarily for his directorial ventures, as he makes his debut as a lead actor.
